This conference aims to bring together African scholars working within and across disciplinary
fields, to engage in discussion about the relation of their research to global change. As
frameworks designed to address the root causes of recognised global challenges, the 2030
Agenda for Sustainable Development and the International Decade for the People of African
Descent 2015–2024 have catalysed thinking and research across various contexts, domains
and organisations. As their date range indicates, we are now entering the time frame when
the question of their efficacy and impact is being raised.
