AfSAI Research Day is an international peer-reviewed conference that attracts cutting edge and intellectually rewarding research from scholars across multi-disciplinary fields.

AfSAI research Day Ireland 2019

In 2019, AfSAI organised its first annual multidisciplinary international research day themed; African Research Day, Ireland 2019- Presenting Works by African Researchers in Ireland. Held in and supported by TU Dublin, Ireland.

This conference saw attendance from various HEIs in Ireland with 22 abstract submissions, 20 oral presentations, 2 keynote speakers and about 70 persons in attendance.

The first keynote speaker, Prof. Philip Owende, the Academic Quality Manager and adjunct Associate Professor at TU Dublin (Blanchardstown Campus), a Chartered Engineer, Fellow of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland, and Member of Engineers Ireland Accreditation Board, kicked of the conference with his presentation on ‘Getting Published – for Visibility & Impact.

The second keynote speaker, Dr Alice Feldman, a Senior Lecturer on Race, Migration and Decolonial Studies lecturer at the University College Dublin (UCD) rounded up the conference. Her presentation was on ‘Knowledge Epitomised and how African Research Day 2019 enriches knowledge in Ireland.

AfSAI Research Day, 12 December 2020

Research day theme; African Research Day, Ireland 2020- African Representations and Perspectives: Opportunities, Challenges, and Triumphs. Due to Covid 19, it was offered as the first Virtual Conference of AfSAI. The conference is slated for 12 December 2020.African Research Day Ireland 2020

This conference saw attendance from various HEIs in Ireland with 20 abstract submissions, 14 oral presentations, 1 keynote speaker and about 60 persons in attendance. The key note presentation was by Professor Tukufu Zuberi. Professor of Sociology, the Lasry Family Professor of Race Relations.

Meet Our Speakers

Prof Helen Phelan - University of Limerick

Helen Phelan is a Professor at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick, with a focus on music and migration. She is the founder of the Singing and Social Inclusion research group and the Chair of IMBAS, a support network for artistic research in Ireland. Her recent research explores the use of participatory arts-based methods in migrant health research and she has published several books including Singing the Rite to Belong: Music, Ritual and the New Irish.

Professor Magnus Amajirionwu, PhD

Professor Magnus Amajirionwu is a global sustainability expert and the Vice Chancellor of Nexus International University, with over 30 years of experience working in Europe and Africa, and expertise in environment, sustainable development, and education. He has also worked as a consultant, researcher, and environmental activist, and holds multiple degrees and professional certifications in various fields.

Dr. Charles Nwankire - President

Dr. Charles Nwankire possesses a range of skills in the areas of analytics and strategic leadership. He has experience working as a Data Scientist in various fields including Treasury Services, Wholesale Payments, Fraud Analytics, Market Research, Customer Analytics, and Data Visualization. Dr. Nwankire is also adept at coaching and mentoring teams of analysts. He is known for his excellent communication skills and for being innovative and entrepreneurial.
